Joanna Noujaim

Joanna Noujaim is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Toronto. Raised in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Joanna is the daughter of Lebanese immigrants and is deeply proud of her cultural roots and community connections. As a Lebanese Canadian and a settler in Canada, her lived experiences fuel her passion for social justice, advocacy, and community-centred care.

Joanna plans to pursue a career as a therapist and is passionate about supporting individuals through compassionate, trauma-informed care. Alongside her studies, she works part-time as a Program Coordinator with a mental health organization. Through her practicum placement with the Women’s National Housing and Homelessness Network, Joanna is excited to deepen her understanding of housing justice and the systemic barriers impacting women and gender-diverse people experiencing homelessness.

Outside of work and school, you can find Joanna exploring her new city of Toronto, taking pictures of all the flowers she finds along the way, trying new teas, going to the gym, and camping at the Bay of Fundy with her dad.
