Aymen Sherwani

Aymen Sherwani is a Research Assistant at the Women’s National Housing and Homelessness Network.

She formerly worked as a journalist and editor for five years, where she reported on stories, personal narratives, and opinion pieces that amplified underrepresented and equity-deserving groups — as well as fostering dialogue on emerging social, cultural, and political issues in Canada.

Aymen holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in Law & Society from the University of Calgary, with a focus on Comparative Politics and Human Rights. Central to her work is a deep commitment to the belief that housing is a fundamental human right as she works to advance policies and narratives that challenge systemic barriers to safe, dignified, and equitable housing for all.

When she’s not writing, you can find her in the basement of a used bookstore, at an international grocery looking for a very specific ingredient, or trail running somewhere in the mountains — either way, service will be spotty.
